Vern Friesen grew up on a farm in York County.  After earning a B. A. degree in Art from Chadron State College, he returned to Henderson to operate the family farm.  Since that time he has developed his career in art to the point that he is now a full time sculptor, painter, and a hobby farmer.  Vern’s experiences as a farmer, cattleman, horseman, and rodeo contestant have provided inspirational ideas for his western paintings and sculptures.  Vern has completed a life-sized Civil War soldier in bronze for a monument in Sutton, NE., and a life-sized farm family irrigation sculpture for Henderson.
